Cefix 60ml Syp (Jorden)

CEFIX is an oral suspension that contains cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. This syrup formulation is typically used to treat various bacterial infections due to its effectiveness against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Key Uses
Cefixime is indicated for the treatment of:
- Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTI): Such as otitis media and sinusitis.
- Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Including bronchitis and pneumonia.
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Effective for conditions like cystitis and uncomplicated pyelonephritis.
- Gonorrhea: Treats uncomplicated gonococcal infections.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Useful in managing various skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Mechanism of Action
Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is essential for bacterial growth and survival. By disrupting this process, cefixime effectively kills the bacteria, helping to clear the infection.

Dosage and Administration
- Adults: The usual dosage for adults is typically 400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hours, depending on the type of infection being treated.
- Pediatric Patients: For children, the dosage is usually based on weight:
- Children under 45 kg: 8 mg/kg once daily or 4 mg/kg every 12 hours.
- Children over 45 kg: 400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hours.

The syrup should be shaken well before use and can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Nausea
